The aim of this work is to provide a reliable method for predicting the depth, width, and overall surface profile of femtosecond-laser-ablated blind holes in aluminium using a two-temperature model implemented in a smoothed-particle hydrodynamics framework.A threshold temperature for Coulomb explosion is estimated using two different physical models. The theoretical predictions are validated against experimental data from femtosecond-laser ablation experiments conducted in this study. The results show good agreement between simulation and experiment for both ablation depth and surface radius across a range of pulse energies. The findings suggest that Coulomb explosion is the dominant ablation mechanism in the femtosecond regime for aluminium. Furthermore, observation of the thermal relaxation between pulses indicate that heat accumulation effects can be disregarded at a repetition rate up to 1 MHz.
