After two years without physical events, the international optics community finally met again live in the Rhine Valley: RhySearch welcomed over 100 participants to the renowned conference "Optical Coatings for Laser Applications OCLA" at the Buchs campus of the OST on Wednesday, 13 April.
The conference is a must in the calendar of internationally renowned coating experts and RhySearch invited participants to Buchs for the seventh time. The focus was on the latest developments and research results in the field of optical coatings for laser applications. The research areas include high-end surface analysis, surface processing by laser treatment and coating of laser crystals as well as new trends in thin-film deposition.
Fellow researcher from the James Webb Space Telescope a guest at the 7th OCLA
In addition to experts from German-speaking countries, representatives from industry and research from France, Lithuania and the USA also found their way to Buchs at the University of Applied Sciences OST. One of the highlights for all participants was the lecture by Dr Adrian Glauser, who heads the Swiss part of the new James Webb space telescope. He and his research group at the Institute for Particle Physics and Astrophysics at ETH Zurich are working on astrospectroscopy, which makes the invisible visible and should thus help to clarify the question of whether we are alone in the universe.
Review via LiveStream
For the first time, RhySearch enabled online participation in the OCLA via LiveStream. This will be available for "review" over the next few weeks.
Next year in cooperation with IOF Fraunhofer Institute
Next year, the OCLA will be held for the first time in cooperation with the IOF Fraunhofer Institute in Jena, one of the world's most renowned research centres in the field of optical coatings.
