The machining of high-precision components involves a great deal of manual work and demands the highest level of skill. Nevertheless, there are often expensive rejects. In a research project with nine industrial partners and four research institutions, RhySearch investigated the question: How can the production of high-precision workpieces be automated, the manufacturing process accelerated and, in particular, the process reliability increased, all with a form error tolerance of 0.1 µm?
