Dr. habil. Michael Schreiner studied applied mathematics (with mechanical engineering and computer science) at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. After his diploma (1991) in the field of fluid mechanics of rarefied gases, he finished his PhD thesis in 1994. The topic was numerical methods for the analysis of the Earth's gravity field from satellite data. After a short period as a post-doc, he moved to the "Scientific Computing" department at Hilti AG in Schaan, Liechtenstein. There he worked (last as project manager) on simulation methods in structural mechanics, inverse problem solving for electromagnetic sensors, software engineering and high-performance computing. In 2002, he moved to NTB (now OST) as a lecturer in applied mathematics. There he has established the Institute of Computational Engineering, which he has directed since its establishment in 2009. In parallel, he was habilitated at the Department of Mathematics at the TU Kaiserslautern in 2004 and works there as a private lecturer. Since 01.09.2023 Michael Schreiner is head of the Digital Innovation Lab at RhySearch.
Michael Schreiner has published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and is co-author of four books. He serves as editor of the International Journal on Geomathematics (GEM).
